Susana Ribeiro
Sports Massage Therapist
Susana Ribeiro from Portugal has spent the last 15 years working as a sports therapist in her home country, working with the Portuguese Football Federation and the Lisbon Football Association. She first looked after the women’s football team and then moving on to the men’s team.
She has dealt with all kinds of injuries on the field – from twisted ankles, broken bones – especially fingers – torn ligaments, providing onsite assistance and longer term recovery and rehabilitation.
Susana specialises in athletic massage and sports rehabilitation, physiotherapy, cinesiotherapy, thermaltherapy, lymphatic drainage, electrotherapy and thermotherapy. Her techniques and deft touch are highly regarded among patients.
Susana was an athlete herself, playing basketball, football and kickboxing and has also coached children’s football team.
Graduated from George Washington University in 1997, and George Washington University School of Medicine in 2002.
He served as a United States Patent and Trademark Office Biotechnology Patent examiner, then completed seven years of additional training including five years of general surgery training in New York and one year of research at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institute’s of Health.
He completed a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Combined program. In 2009-2010 he will be the Peripheral Nerve Fellow at the Dellon Institute in Baltimore.
His clinical interests include peripheral nerve compression syndromes and hand/upper extremity disorders particularly fractures, ligament injuries, trauma, and microsurgical reconstruction.

Wendy is from Edinburgh, Scotland, and qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2003. She spent the last seven years working in Edinburgh in the largest acute hospital in Scotland gaining experience in many different specialties including Neurology, Cardio-respiratory and Orthopaedics. She joined the California Chiropractic and Sports Medicine Center recently in April 2010.
Scotland, like many countries, has a large Respiratory problem and Wendy worked for a few years as a Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist. She treated patients with Chronic Lung Diseases and disordered breathing patterns, having a large impact on their quality of life.
Wendy has always been interested in Occupational Health and how work life affects individuals and may predispose them to injury. In Edinburgh, she also worked as a Manual Handling Coordinator assessing and advising the hospital staff on a change in work practice to reduce the risk of injury.
Wendy has always been actively involved in rehabilitation and worked as a Sports Physiotherapist for an Edinburgh rugby club rehabilitating players back to match fitness.
Wendy has a specialist interest in the rehabilitation of back injuries. Having suffered a number of prolapsed lumbar discs herself, she has a real appreciation of the injury process and is fully aware of the importance of rehabilitating these effectively to limit, and if possible avoid, any reoccurrence.
